WELCOME

HELLO & WELCOME TO CHELTENHAM ELIM CHURCH

WELCOME

We are a family of Jesus followers who fully believe that anyone is welcome to access God at anytime. As a family, one of the things we love to do is to meet together, and when we do we want to keep God as the central focal point of all that we do.

The whole church family have an opportunity to get together in 117 on a Sunday morning, at 10:30am. One of the first things you will notice is that we love to sing and we sing a mixture of modern worship songs and classic hymns of the faith. We also enjoy hearing peoples’ stories of how God has helped out during the week. Of course, we like to pray and talk to God, and give opportunity for God to talk directly to us through gifts of the Holy Spirit. We greatly value getting to grips with teaching from the Bible, and we hear passages of God’s Word explained by the Pastors and leaders of our church.

By the time we have squeezed all of that in, about 90mins have passed. During that time our children have their own activity in our community centre next door, 115, whilst our youth stay in to sing with us, then head off to their own room (out back and upstairs) to hang out and do the cool Bible stuff.

OUR CHURCH SERVICES

CHURCH SERVICES

Whether you are exploring faith, looking for a foodbank, seeking a church family to be part of, or want to get involved and use the gifts God has given you, there is something here for you and a part for you to play in this community.

To help you explore some more, here are some brief introductions to various parts of our church family.

Worship/Creative team

Our purpose is to encourage people into God’s presence. One of our roles is to facilitate the music during our gathered times of worship and we do that through our musical and vocal talents, technical skills, and a variety of other creative expressions.

KIDS

We believe that God speaks to us all and this is not dependent on age. We are creating an environment where children are so impacted by God that they can’t help but inspire the rest of the church family by their encounter.

Youth

Here at Limitless Cheltenham we want young people to explore the big questions of life and faith in a fun and safe environment. We welcome young people from the ages of 11-17 into a community environment where they can feel empowered to know more about Jesus, and recognise that there is a group of people willing to support them on this journey.

Baby Facilities

During our services we have a crèche facility which parents can use. We also have baby changing facilities in various locations. If it’s not obvious from the map(s) here and up in the building, one of our lovely stewards can point you in the right direction.

DURING THE WEEK

FOODBANK

Serving Our Community

Cheltenham Foodbank is a ministry that helps support local people in crisis, we work with local agencies that refer people to us. We supply food, love, care, prayer and support to the clients and aim to walk with them to help them get back on their feet. We are looking to build community, a place where everyone is accepted, valued and cared for

115 –

COMMUNITY SPACE

The same building that houses our Foodbank is also home to our newly refurbished community centre where we aim to have a variety of activities throughout the week. We will be running things like: Kintsugi hope – mental well-being, Toddlers group, Art classes, and groups for specific areas of help such as Debt advice.

Alpha Course

EXPLORING FAITH

If you are interested in the Christian faith or have questions then we are here to help. We run a regular Alpha course online, which explores deep questions surrounding faith, like “Is Jesus God?”, “Why did Jesus die?” If a course isn’t your thing then we would love to connect with you one to one and have a conversation. We believe that God has a plan and a purpose for everyone, it would be our pleasure to explore that journey together.

SMALL GROUPS

GROWING TOGETHER

Small groups are a massive part of being more deeply connected to our family. No matter what your age or Christian experience, we have a group where you can meet with fellow believers and work through the ups and downs of life with others. You can both get support and be a supporter of others. If you are new to faith, you might want to join our Alpha course, or our New Believers’ group.

WHAT's IT ALL ABOUT?

WHAT is CHRISTIANITY?

A Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ and follows his teachings. The Bible says ‘If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come.’ This means that when we become a Christian we may look the same on the outside, but something has forever changed on the inside. There are various metaphors to describe it – we have ‘changed country’, ‘come under new ownership’, or ‘been born again’. Christians believe that God sends his Holy Spirit to live within everyone at that moment.

‘If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come.’

Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he lived as a man on Earth about 2,000 years ago. But Jesus is himself divine: he is one person of a three-person God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Christians believe the accounts in the Bible which say Jesus was miraculously conceived and lived for about 30 years before beginning three years of travelling around the Middle East, teaching about God and healing sick people. Christianity teaches that Jesus was betrayed, tried and convicted on false charges and executed by crucifixion but rose from the dead and reappeared to hundreds of people. He then ascended to heaven to be with God. In the future, there will be a time of judgement. After that those who have put their trust and faith in Jesus, will be with him in eternity.
